Hyperwar has been a tremendous help to me in my USN research over the past 15 years. Patrick Clancey was a mentor and friend in the early years. Researching crewmembers who died in service aboard a USN Cruiser for upcoming publication. I ran across an abbreviation that has me stumped. Have been searching the Internet for days and can find no explanation. Sailor appears on the ship's Report of Changes (NAVPERS 605b), 1 July 1945, with rate of CGMA (Chief Gunner's Mate Acting) and the following information is shown: Change of Status: JJ Description of Change: NTSCH Seattle WN [Naval Training School, Seattle, Washington] Date of Occurrences: 6/14 Service Number: xxx-xx-xx My question is about the Change of Status. What does "JJ" mean?? Any information or even a wild guess would be very much appreciated. I am dedicated to remembering those Lost At Sea in WWII.
