i have two very unusal item one is a knife that i believe was takenby a german soldier and stamped one one side by a swaski and the other side by the german eagle with swaski. the handle is leather; the other item is a nazi belt buckle that has a russian star placed over the german symbol; will take picture and send if it will help although the knife might be hard to see the marks. does anyone know if the germans marked their booty this way:eek:

click on go advanced, then you'll see a black paperclip at the top next to smily face, click on paperclip and a window will open which alows you to click on browse taking you to to anywhere on your computer where you store pics, find the ones you want to upload up to 5,and click on that pic, when you've done? click upload and pics will load, then add what you want to ask and post..

The knife looks American. I think its "alterations" stink. In other words, im highly suspecious about the knife. The Russians did use captured items and did alter them so I do like the look of your altered beltbuckle.

Hi Melvin, im not saying the knife wasn't a bring back but just that it looks like an Amwerican one and one my Dad had from WWII-which I have not seen in about 30 or so years. Its posssible yours was one a German captured fro some GI, who then had it liberated on his death or capture-by another GI ;-))

Denazified belt buckles are quite common , I howeve rthink this is Partisan art, not regular army. They were often wron by the Partisans as trophees. Your items look both genuine to me, they are nice pieces to be left as such as a testimony of those days. The buckle would look great on a Partisan mannequin
