I have decided to study each theater of WWII seperately, but very in depth, but need suggestions. Anything is a great help. I am reading "An Army at Dawn", but Rick Atkinson. I think it's rick, the book's in my car.
A classic about the earlier stages of N. Africa is 'The Crucible Of War' Volumes I & II by Barrie Pitt ( also published as three volumes in paperback ). Also a good one is 'Kasserine Pass' by Martin Blumenson.
Depends on what you want. There is the Rommel Ppaers. I've got more at home that i can check when i get back.
Atkinson's work is outstanding. Although US veterans have complained of their treatment in this history, I think it's balanced. The best companion volume to Atkinson is: Here Is Your War / by Ernie Pyle. Copyright 1943 Henry Holt and Co. Publ: Henry Holt and Company, New York NY. 304 pp. Other good sources are: The Bloody Road to Tunis : Destruction of the Axis Forces in North Africa, November 1942 - May 1943 / by David Rolf. Copyright 2001 David Rolf. Publ: Greenhill Books, London NW11 9NN UK ISBN 1-85367-445-1. 320 pp. The Memoirs of Field-Marshal Montgomery / by Bernard Law, Viscount Mongomery of Alamein.
