Hello, my name is Frank Bennett (tntbenn). I am a 57 yr old male from KC Mo. I am trying to find out how to or where to go to find service records on my wife's father. She was only able to know him from age 9-11 due to divorce and a phsyco mother. All she can remember about him is that he was in the Navy during WW2 and would have lived in Florida or Missouri when he enlisted. His name is Denver Dale Horton, he was born in 1925 and died in 1975 living in KC or Independence Mo. Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I just lost my father a week ago and after going thru his thing and finding his info from the Korean War it sparked me to try to find any info on her father so she would have some kind of idea of who her father was. Thank you
Hi Frank. Nice to have you here. We'll do our best to help. Read through here https://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records You may find it useful. Make sure you request his OMPF. It will be helpful. I think this is his grave marker Looks like he was a Machinist's Mate 3rd Class
Best of luck with your research Frank. Sorry about your father. I like genealogy and that's what led me to investigate my own families military service. I started about 6 years ago and I'm still hooked ha ha.
