'Evening, gents - I just found this site, and am quite impressed.... there's a whole lot of information buried in here! A bit about myself: I'm a 55 year old, self-employed Consulting Civil Engineer living in North Idaho. I've been a WWII history buff my whole life - initally aviation, but then ETO and, for the last 10 years or so, I seem to pick up more books about the Pacific...but it's all interesting. Dad was in Europe with the 99th Division (Battle of the Bulge and wounded at Remagen), while Mom (his high school sweetheart) waited out the war wrapping bandages for the troops at home. They're both still alive and kicking, and remind me daily why they are truly 'The Greatest Generation'. I'd like to offer up some more information, but, heck, I've got a LOT of reading to do here! My name is Lou, but you can just call me.....well......Lou. -whatever -Lou
You do have quite a past, and I'm sure you'll have stories to share with us if you'd like. Please feel welcome.
Welcome Lou. I dont think we have anyone here from Idoho yet so its always a pleasure to see someone from a new place Happy posting!
Welcome, er uh, what was your name again....Lou. Good to have you here. You're a welcomed change form all the Texans we've had piling into the site lately. Beside Texans, there are Portagees, Limeys, a Limey and Russian emigre' to the US or two, Frogs, Kiwis, Aussies, Limeys, a Soumi that posts on rare occasions as you will find out, a Turk, Canadians and the cream of the crop, Alabamians. Hope you enjoy the fun and information.
Don't forget those who have mixed identies, like me! I actually have to think when people ask me questions like 'Where are you from?' and 'Where is home?'
Welcome, welcome Lou, as you probably have heard already but hey, never too little right. It supposed to make a man feel good ... or something like that. Welcome!
Be careful what you wish for! Actually, Idaho is really quite old! That's one of the appeals of this group.... I've always been interested in seeing history from an entirely different viewpoint from my rather parochial education. ....hmmmmmm... too bad there aren't any Limeys here!....oh, well....Texans will have to do! Nope - they don't get much newbier than me! (but let's nip the FNG stuff in the bud RIGHT now!) ...and I shall be happy to post them, sir!...Thank You! If this doesn't work, drop me a PM.....I've definitely got some other suggestions for that 'feel good' thing! Well, thank you gentlemen, for the warm welcome....I'm still exploring all the nooks and crannies of this site....goodness, there certainly is a LOT of really good information here. Thanks again- -Lou
Welcome to this fine site Lou, and thanks for the background you gave us. I am looking forward to reading more postings from you. Best regards--C.
