I admitted my bias. How do you interpret this statement? Pro or con lumping all Moslems with terrorists?

"He said in his 'manifesto' that he most admires the Chinese government, and that he's some kind of eco-warrior. As for guns, he could have done just as much damage and perhaps more, with a pump shotgun and buckshot. In related (and ignored) news, Muslims continue to slaughter Christians around the world. It's not even reported because of course Muslims are going to slaughter people. "

Did he say "all"? I must have missed that.
That's an observation by KodiakBeer on the way many international media outlets handle news of Islamic violence, too mundane to even report on.

I do see Kodiak saying "Of course there is no justification." which directly contradicts your statement.

My bias sees him contradicting himself I guess. I read about Muslims killing white people in the news every day. Freedom isn't free, you have to put in the time.

Certainly Kodiak doesn't need me to defend him in a discussion, but when allegations are made that a member of this site is justifying the murder of children, a criminal act in many places, I take that very, very seriously.

Next time you see murder being justified anywhere in this site, please use the "report post" button and I will investigate, take action against that user if warranted, and follow up with the authorities.

What part of me questioning my bias are you having trouble understanding? Help me out here. It could be me having been brainwashed by the enemy of the people. Please keep it simple for this poor dumb biased lib. Tell me what you hear in this please.

....... of course Muslims are going to slaughter people. "

Sounds pretty inclusive to my ears.

No need to get so defensive wolley12, no one made judgement on your politics. I do think that picking that single sentence fragment and interpreting it that way says more about what's in your mind than what is in anyone else's.

As I said previously, if you see something potentially criminal, report it using the proper channels, otherwise please carry on.

Muslims have been both the majority of perpetrators and the majority of victims of terrorist acts in the last couple decades. Looks to me like that statement reflects the current situation pretty well. It does neglect their status as victims but that wasn't and isn't the focus of this thread.

You see, I could interpret that as racist because of course Muslims come in all flavors; brown, white, Asian and all the rest. But of course you meant Muslims killing westerners, or Christians or other Muslims of a different sect, which also include people of all flavors.

My essential point is that when it comes to murder for/by religion, the media puts entirely too much attention on killings of Muslims vs Muslims killing everyone else. Every leader in the western world has sent condolences to NZ, but when it's Christians in Nigeria they say nothing.

One thing I find...interesting in all of this, is the way 'communities' respond to it.

In this case, Muslims took to the streets and protested it, in the Middle East (will have to check where I saw that and confirm). However, when a Muslim blows himself (or herself) up, or goes on a shooting rampage, against non Muslims, I don't see any street protests. Or when Muslims commit terror attacks against each other, there is no outcry from their community.

It does seem to get a lot of attention in the media, as well. But this guy in the Netherlands who just killed at least 3 people on the Tram, not even a headline news today despite being a terror attack.

The Media (in general) is certainly to blame, but to what end - what purpose - what goal - are they seeking with their selective reporting?
And why do Muslim communities call for blood when a 'westerner' kills one of theirs in an attack, but not when one of their own does it instead?

Yep. These days most of the news reporting seems to have a profit as a main driver in choosing what to report. Profitable news is click bait news.

"You see, I could interpret that as racist because of course Muslims come in all flavors; brown, white, Asian and all the rest."

    - You got me there. Very few Blond Swedes or red headed Irish Muslims but I'm sure they exist. Most of what I read is of Mulsim's killing Non Muslims. Most murders are In the news I see reported it is mostly white people. I live where there has been a huge influx of Microsoft Muslims for me to interact with. They are very uncomfortable having to endure burning and desecration of their mosques here as the result of the rhetoric being pushed today. It is what it is. Knowing and interacting does not make me an expert but moves me closer to understanding . I wonder who else here could say that they interact with Muslims?

Anyhow, I recently got access to all of the Morning Reports of my dad's Ranger Company. I have some reading and research to do. First look shows pop was in the hospital a bunch. As were a lot of those boys fighting during the winter of 1943 in the Italian mountains.

Thanks for the knowledge I gained here.

Re. the media: I'll probably get a bit of flack for this so I might go into a bit of explaining why I think the way I do. I believe the media dotes on these gun tragedies for two reasons. First, as noted above, is the ratings/profit motive but the second reason is to advance certain political agendas, namely gun control and "getting" the NRA. These agendas are pushed by the owners of the media outlets and their employees who we see on TV all the time. If you'll notice the "liberal" media gives the most time to those incidents that can be given an anti-gun slant. If the scumbag in NZ had used a semi-truck to kill those people there'd be less coverage than if the perp uses a gun-especially an AR! After the shooting, the victims are profiled again and again to gain maximum outrage, not against the criminal but against the tool he used. Often, the criminal's name is brought up over and over, giving him maximum coverage-just what he wants. He then becomes a celebrity of sorts and even gets a sort of immortality, even if he dies at the scene. For some loser, living in a rat-infested apartment or his parent's basement with no real friends, employment, or prospects and with who-knows-what mental problems, it doesn't get any better than this! Everybody in the world knows his name and he and his atrocity dominate the news cycle for far too long. Power! Is it any wonder that this type of thing is happening more often? We're rewarding the behavior that supposedly we want to extinguish!

Naturally, the talking heads of the media deplore the situation, bringing on guests from the anti-gun orgs to push "common-sense gun control measures". None of these measures, had they been in place at the time, would have prevented anything. Now if (and this is a big "if") a pro-gun person is heard, you might notice that his views get far less air-time than the gun-control people do.

Now these news outlets such as MNBC, CBS, CNN, etc. employ some ofthe best media-savvy minds on the planet. It's inconceivable that they don't understand what they're doing. They have to know, or at least strongly suspect, that their coverage is promoting violent homicide. So, are they continuing this practice because they value ratings and profits over human life, or are they consciously trying to promote more violence so as to get a ground-swell of support to take the guns of law-abiding citizens? Or both? You be the judge.

I think the media sucks hard...I could almost see them rubbing their hands together when the toll reached 50...they pretend to care so much...then draw as much out as possible. Intrusive interviews with "tell us what happened" questions...then graphics re-enactments, then interviews with family members of the deceased and the gunman...then try to splinter the story into different sections - where he got the weapons - his upbringing - psych reports - how muslims are reacting - possible legislations etc etc etc ad nauseum...until the ratings drop.
I think the most iconic illustration of this was the 911 attack...I could go on for days about how they tried to draw this out over weeks and months, but enough to just ask "how many times have you seen the aircraft crash into the building?" I've long lost count...
Leaches, their saliva full of anti-coagulant trying to keep the blood flowing...

    media is lefty here.

these headlines are not about money. it's about controlling the narrative (propaganda).
    they want your guns.
dude wrote all over his gun.
look at what symbols, numbers, phrases on the gun... obvious. so why would he want to be so blatant, I wonder.

I'm glad that they put the brakes on the massacre film. And I'm glad that I live close enough to the border that I can watch Canadian news.

I should edit that to say Canadian and American TV. The news is even more different. Like the difference between a rock guitar and a cello. They both have strings and make music but... On the 3 American 24 hour liberal stations and 24 hour Fox stations the news is presented like a loud sporting event. Dramatic tone and music. Bright "in your face" graphics. Loud announcers. I I watch both sides and if you can be selective. Both have good shows. Both have shows with nutty drama. My wife (Boomer lib who did anti war marches at her school when the colleges shut down after Kent State Massacre) binge watches the lib stations and it makes me scream because they could do better looking a more issues instead beating to death the 5 or six scandals of the day. Canadian TV news is presented with a more educational and adult tone and more unbiased reporting so I listen to what they have to say about us. Even the commercial are more polite. I went to college in Canada and hitch hiked to see my future wife when her school shut down. They have their own problems and that's interesting too.

I'm not sure where you heard this but Muslims do denounce and protest against terrorism all over the world.

Indian Muslims protest against deadly ISIL attacks

10,000 Muslims will march in Cologne on Saturday against terrorism

No one covered the Muslim anti-Isis march that took place in London last week

Muslims in Europe rally against extremist violence

Google search results are based on the users past searches. It would be interesting to see what the first few results are when someone else here searches this term with no quotation marks.

Netherlands who just killed at least 3 people

Here is my top 5 My liberal leanings are evident. Most of these news items were dated yesterday 3/19.
