Would this mean a Battle of the English Channel as we would be forced to draw out the Luftwaffe? </font>[/QUOTE]I would believe that the Luftwaffe would only defend there supply lines from RAF bombers to supplies comming to the 2 walls. I don't think would come out and play with the RAF over the channel if that is what you meant.

Here is a question. If this did happen, if you were Rommel what would you focus on? (ie atlantic wall/ mines etc. or Secret weapons (V2).
I would max out the fotifacations on the 2 walls in my opinion.

The V2 was a waste of money so I would go for Atlantic wall.

Yes the v2 was a waste of money but it was leap forward in tech. and it caused much fear in people and was a great tool to use for demoralization

That's a thin line. Do you build a weapon (V2) even tho, it's expensive, but it's propaganda is much more terrifying than it's own self.

The german v2 rocket was a great success when it came to spreading fear, when that boy came flying out of nowhere with a wistling sound everyone hit the deck cause no one knew where it would hit nor how to shoot it down. Also the v2 rocket could of hit britain without actually having a person fly over the channel which the germans later hated doing cause if ur shot down ur shark bait, another words no lives risked. And imagine id u were a british citizen hearing
that awfull sound over and over, u would have no idea as to how many of these rocket the enemy had
very scary especially when u cant shoot it down.
and carries a larger warhead then a bomb!

however i understand what u are referring to. yes it wasnt accurate and by the end of the war it made absolutely no difference.

Not wishing to split hairs, but people in the UK only hit the deck at the approach of a V1. The V2, being supersonic in its descent, gave absolutely no warning - the characteristic 'whoosh' being heard after the explosion.....

    No it wasn't.
It was a very, very expensive way to throw small amounts of high explosive in the general direction of the Allies.

The V1 and V2 were successful to a degree at spreading fear but that was all. These terror weapons were a waste of money more so with the V2, Germany would have done better building more Panzerfausts for an example.

The V-2 was a pathetic failure, militarily, economically, and as a terror weapon.

First, the V-2 is supersonic. This means it makes no sound when it impacts. The sound follows several seconds later when the sonic shock wave arrives. Basic physics at work here. So, the receipents hear nothing until the bomb goes off followed by a sonic boom that gets largely lost in the explosion itself.

Second, as it had a CEP (Circular Error Probable) .5 of about 10 miles at maximum range it was horribly inaccurate. Targetting a city the size of London ensured about 75% of those launched landed somewhere in London at most.

As the V-2 carries just a mere, tiny 1000 lb warhead it is an incredibly expensive way (a V-2 cost about the same as a twin engine fighter to produce in quantity) to deliver what amounts to a pin prick attack. In fact, all the V-2's launched combined delivered less than one medium sized Allied bomber raid on Germany did. Spending what is usually to be estimated to be about 10% of Germany's GDP to deliver just the equivalent of a single Allied air raid (and with essentially 100% friendly losses...after all, all the V-2s are destroyed) is myopically stupid.

Oh, by the by, had the war continued by late 45 the US would have had the MX 774 coming into production. Convair developed this missile from captured V-2 components. Their engineer Charlie Bossart managed to rectify the worst of the German engineering resulting in a missile the size of a V-2 with triple the range and double the payload. Rockedyne, the engine manufacturer managed to get almost 25% more thrust from their improved engine and eliminated the graphite vanes used by the Germans to steer the missile replacing these with a swivelling nozzle.
For a first product it was well ahead of the V-2.

Maybe as the V or the vengeance weapon it did its trick for a huge price.

Also Speer recalled it was his biggest mistake to carry on the project. Instead the Wasserfall project on ground-to-air-missile should have been studied more.

None at all, they would be completely useless. There were no Soviet cities in range to bomb (supposing it mattered to the recipients), and tactical targets were to small to hit. Besides as was pointed out before, the payloads were too small. They would have only curiosity effect.
