Right, time to get the ball rolling!
At the end of July 1944 Christian Tyschens headquarters of the 2nd SS Pz. Div. was overrun as the Americans began to break out of the Normandy bridgehead. Not knowing that Tyschen had been killed, the temporary CO of the remnanats of the division, Otto Baum, arranged a prisoner exchange to try and get him back. Did this exchange go ahead anyway? If so, how many were involved and from which units were they from?

    Regards to all,

    Rich

Wow! Tough question. I looked through all my books to no avail. I assume the exchange went ahead because you are asking what units were involved, but other than that I'm at a loss.

    Anyone else have any info?

I dunno, i doubt it...Ever seen the Movies where the Americans and Germans both try to out due eachother by giving them privates dressed up as colonels or something thinking that each will be getting the other back....
