Money to build nukes and ballistic missiles but can't pay the light bill?
For a simple but graphic illustration of the differences between Communism/Socialism and a Capitalist/Democratic state look at the 38th parallel separating North Korea, one of the most backward, poor nations of the world and South Korea, one of the most productive and successful economies of the world.

Yeah, but someone was shooting at them then. I'd turn off the lights myself under those circumstances. ;)

Of course - we shouldn't assume from this that North Koreans are any less happy than South Koreans. ie.... let's all worship the great god Western Consumerism - John is happier than Kim because John has a playstation and a socket & TV to plug it into and Kim hasn't .... hmmmm........

    :D

The only thing communist about China is the rhetoric of the party.
Communism may warm their hearts but it's pure Capitalism that keeps their rice bowls filled.

Absolutely. I would never assume that people reduced to eating bark from trees could be anything but happy as a lark. ;)

Grieg, if I didn't know better I would swear you were being sarcastic there... :D

North Korea is a wonderful advert for Communism - so concerned about the state of the world that they refuse to even create light pollution, and as for those nasty CO2 emitting power stations...

    :D

    Yes - genuinely eco friendly.

PS. Tree bark can be quite nice with a little ketchup.
