Hello, new to your forum. There seems to be a wealth of information within and the discussions present fresh views of WW2 and the lead up to that conflict. I look forward to joining in your discussions as a participant or just following as your threads lead to other interesting questions of the time.

I have one item with which I would appreciate your help. I have a older widower neighbor whose pilot husband owned a
P-51 D but sold it a number of years ago. She said it was involved in a crash after it was sold but does not know if it was written off. She would really like to know what really happened to her "second love" (the P-51). Besides the web site Mustang -Mustang where might I inquire. Plane ID number is 52758. I do not have the year prefix.

    Thanks for your help

Didn't find any 52758 in survivors, wrecks, or written off.

I'm not too sure that the serial is correct for a P-51. The only 52758 which I can locate is 42-52758, and that's for a B-24 Liberator.

I agree, looking further into the matter, 52758 was not in any of the production or serial numbers of any P-51.

It would probably be easier to try to trace the Mustang with the husband's name.

Since the serial number is incorrect, I tried running a partial through:
Warbird Registry - North American Aviation P-51 Mustang - A Warbirds Resource Group Site

The partials that I checked were 527, 275, and 758. I got one match with 275, and that was for 44-73275.

    Here is the owner history:
