Pegasus's Militaria Tat Collection

    Hello martin, thats correct these are very mobile peices of equipment that can be used very effectivley in the right hands :eek:
    I had to look around for some time to find this one, in the end I found it in the US, thank God (and Bill Gates) for the internet

    This is another of my favorite items my PIAT, Got this one recentley at Stoneleigh from a German dealer, again these are getting hard to find at the wright price

    I've seen them in various states of preservation on sale at Beltring, but prices have moved beyond what I'm prepared to pay....:(

    yes, wonderful items Neil, especially the British 2" mortar :)

    is it placed on the ground when fired?

    Hi Andy, yes you drop a round into the mortar tube, use the small cross section as the base on the ground and pull the cord ineffect the trigger to set it off, I have seen sights for these but never one fitted to an actual mortar, I have been told that the white line painted on the side is used for a sighting aid
    Its not quite like the types where you would drop in the round and it would go off automaticaly

    as it impacts with an object or the ground the firing pin hits the denonator and boom :eek: away she goes

    hey Pegasus, thanks for the explanation, (i knew it was operated alittle differently alright,but not much else)

    you have a great collection there, i bet it's taken quite a few years to assemble these items for your collection.
