    How the law worked in reality. (A real "Saving Private Ryan" situation.)

    This law, ( The Sullivan Law), saved the remaining brothers of PFC Jeston Clifford Whittington. They were deferred from combat duty as a result.
    As the remaining oldest son, his brother, J. Howard was attached to a stateside Medical Corps, then later recieved his B.S. in Chemistry under the G.I. bill and had a 40 career in pharmaceutical industry.

    Saving Private Ryan - Facts Behind the Story

    J. Howard Whittington was drafted into service 4 months after Jeston Clifford's KIA death and deferred to stateside service.
