    Based on the pictures I can find on internet I would identify this plane as a Dornier 217.
    Sadly, I don't know where or exactly when the photo was made. (anytime between '40 and '45 is all I know)

    ..appears to be an airfield decoy..note the lack of undercarriage!

    Yep, it is a "dummy" Ju-88.
    Scroll down towards the bottom of the link and you will find a similar "aircraft".

    Indeed, I should have taken a closer look on at the picture. Now I noticed the difference in the tail between a Dornier and a Junker.
