07.07.1981 - 192 Iraqi Bombers, bombing Kerend -e Gharb - Eslam Abad -e gharb - Naft shahr - Soumar - Sar pol -e zahab - Gour Sefid - Jaberi - Gilan -e gharb - Zarneh - Sharaf Shah and over 150 villages on Kermanshah Province. Cassaulities were too high... 2000 civilians were died and over 5000 were wounded, including 550 children.

Iranian Air Force, as an answer to this massacre, did a series of bombing raids on Iraqi Army Bases and Economical places and Oil Refineries Under Codename "Enteqam" "Revenge".

that was a long war......it says Iran let them go in 90 miles, 'beyond the range of effective Iraqi air cover ''...this seems odd....no air cover at that range? or is Wiki wrong? it does say Iran had local air superiority.....thanks for your replies

yes... their bombers often did same works to show their bravity and were returning with high cassualities...

on that day, Iranian AA defence systems, shoot down 5 planes, also IRIAF scored 7 victories...

in total, 12 planes destroyed and 11 was damaged. 7 Iraqi pilots became POW as well as 2 Egyptians and 3 Palestinians.
