So, have previously tried to write something's I consider interesting, only to not be able to post. Perhaps I took too long in considering my words?..How long does one have to ponder his thoughts before the post will no longer be accepted?...Think I spent about 20 minutes work for nothing....Kinda frustrating eh.

When I type out a long post, the server boots me off, making it necessary to re- log in. The auto saver sometimes wipes out half of my labouriously typed post, leading to knashing of teeth, and a retype for the post. This seems to happen far more often than I care to admit.

I'm not sure why this is so. In a perfect world, I should be able to sit on a post for hours at a time, crafting and editing, until I am the one to choose when to hit the 'submit reply' button and let the world see what I have been posting. Not sure why Otto and Moderators have imposed this.

I will say, too, that for all of the articles and excerpts I type, I give due credit to the author and the publisher. I have never posted something written by somebody else and claimed it as my own work. To me, this is not plagiarism, and it certainly breaches no copyright that I'm aware of. Copyright is there to protect artisic integrity and license. Passing something off as having been written by you when the words are somebody elses is clearly wrong, but I cannot claim to have ever done this.

Possible objections prevent me from posting a pet project. I have a copy of Jurgen Stroops report given to Hitler after the 1943 Warsaw Insurrection. I also have a copy of possibly the only first hand account published of someone participating in this insurrection, a book called "Caged", by David Landau, alias "Dudek the Great", published in Australia.

I wish to combine excerpts from Stroops report, and put them side by side with with certain excerpts from the book "Caged", but fear of having this quashed due to offending Otto or other site owners is preventing me from beginning work on this. I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do to obtain permission, as Purnells no longer exist, and the publisher of Mr Landau's book seems not to want to be contacted, try as I might. So, something that I would willingly do for the site, I am prevented fro doing with no resolution in sight. Until I get the go-ahead, this project will remain on the backburner for the time being. Pity it is, because Stroops report is a shocking read in itself, and Mr Landau's book contains description of actions that Stroop is describing; Mr Landau shows Stroop to be a liar in some cases, and is also critical of the inhabittants of Warsaw in the non-Ghetto area for their total lack of support, and for their exploitation of Ghetto Jews. All in all, it's a cracking good project that I'm just not sure how to get started.

This sometimes happens with the autisave and has nothing to do with the forum . One simple solution is to copy your text with a right mouse click from time to time . This avoids loosing data in case something annoying happens.

Yes, I had that happen a few times, so I make a point of copying the whole thing right before I hit 'post'.

Do you click the "Remember Me" button when you log on? That seems to resolve the issue for most.

So, have you ever tried to write something interesting,
then after the Post Editing Time limit ended, were unable to:
    a) Repair changed links,
    b) Add new information or replace now incorrect or updated information? ....

    :explosion2: Kinda frustrating eh?:pP_chaingun:

There is a LOT of really interesting stuff here.
Visitors find their interest areas answered via browser searches.

It would be really nice for us to be able to update really old posts so the info stays correct and current...
    - rather than having so many repeat posts on the same topic. Over and over and over again.

Could Otto set it up so once a person has reached a certain point of reputation / membership time / number of posts,
that they automatically switched to be able to modify their own posts?
I guess the only workable option is to ask for moderator status. Eh?

Counter Battery Forum alone has 37 pages of posts.
I'll betch most are repeats of others already there.

Think a decade ahead... Forums will be swamped with repeat posts.
How will a visitor / potential new member know that they are reading a current,
accurate, up to date post, or something that should have been discarded years ago?
