    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the Americans had Japanese pow camps in the Philippines and if so, what they might have been called. Also, did the US Marine Corps man any of these camps. Thanks

Yes they did have POW camps for captured Japanese soldiers. I believe the Marines were too busy filling those camps to hang around and 'man' them.

I could be wrong, but I believe that Marines involvement in the Philippines (1944-45) was primarily limited to Marine Aviation units. Assuming that to be the case, it would seem unlikely that they would be taking or guarding Japanese prisoners there. Other than some Marine artillery on Leyte, the Philippine ground war was primarily an Army affair. However, if I've missed something, I'm sure one of our Marine Corps experts will make the necessary corrections. :)
