I seem to recall having seen the title of this motion picture once in the distant past, but I can no longer find it or any clues to lead the way. (Perhaps my google foo is weak.) After much thrashing about I'm hoping one of the good folks about the forum might help me out. Anyway, here's a link to a little of the footage that's on youtube. http://youtu.be/x9uI8400GTM I'm hoping I can track down the picture in its entirety, as I'd like to watch it. While I wouldn't expect great art it doubtless has some fantastic shots of IJN ships. Many thanks in advance and, CTBurke, you are missed. (Surely the great Admiral would have known this one.)
It seems that there are five parts to this video. I don't know if that is the whole movie, but it's worth a shot. Part 1 of 5 Operation Sho-Go 1 was Japan's last serious attempt to halt the Allied offensive. It resulted in the greatest sea battle of World War Two, the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Leyte Gulf was a number several battles which were fought simultaniously. I recommend, if I may, to watch the videos in the correct order. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD5_qumlfNI
The Japanese propaganda film is called "Torpedo Bombers Attack", makes use of wartime newsreel footage. AFAIK, it's not available online, at least not using english spelling. Not vouching for this site, but... http://www.ioffer.com/i/japanese-torpedo-bombers-attack-real-movie-rare-inert-107932202 Also mentioned in combinedfleet.com's TROM for Zuikaku 19-21 September, 1944
The TROM! Doh! Why didn't I think of that? I was thinking it was something like "Torpedo Squadron Advance" but I couldn't remember and was having a doozie of a time. I was about to post the question over on Tullysport as well, but you may well have solved the problem there. Thank you. I'm quite willing to order it on DVD, or even VHS if it comes to it. Let me do a little investigating, but you have pointed me in a more useful direction. Thank you.
