    Which ship and to what Navy did it belong ?
    The only ship ever recorded to sink six enemy submarines over a period of only two weeks?
    No fair Googling ;)

    yes but isnt there a USS Winston S Churchill in the navy???

    There is currently a Churchill (Arleigh Burke guided missile DD). I don't think there is a Lafayette at present, although there has been in the past. I thnk the last was early SSBN.

    I'm impressed that so many people were aware of this. Kudos to canambridge for being the first :D

    The skipper was a namesake though not directly related AFAIK..in any case the Exec was the man who ran the ASW efforts..it worked wwell for them from the outset so they decided to keep a winning team operating.
    Luck of course played a part in this remarkable accomplishment as well.
