I have to choose a topic prior to 4pm EST, Thursday, January 22nd. Unfortunately, I can write an article on any topic, roughly fifty pages in length. Since my interest is in the Second World War and academically I am focused on the European side of the conflict this is a bit difficult. Right now it is not feasible that I travel to Europe to access primary sources there. I need a topic concerning the American experience of the war in Europe, with access to some primary sources in the Virginia area. I need a topic. It could be a piece of equipment, a battle, a unit, a place, etc. Could you guys help me come up with some ideas? I have parused several general histories on the war and nothing jumps out at me. Many thanks! Cheers, Daniel
Why not use the D-Day invasion as a topic. More specifically, the planning of the invasion. Plenty of resources covering that topic.
Newport News was and still his an important naval base in the area. Would naval discussion interest you?
Sorry I'm a Brit, but what about forgetting the European theatre..your from Virginia...the net and libraries will be full and surely some home stories....The ship of your home state perhaps?
