In a book I read that the Desert Eagle was made to take "heavy duty" revolver rounds like the .357 Magnum and such. How big are those and other standard revolver rounds?
The magnum is about the length of a .303 round I think. deoends what the gun is. The revolvers in movies are usually colt .45's I belaive so the round would be a .45 (duh....) so....yeah.....next?
Bullet diameter of the .357 Magnum is 0.358 inches. The over all length (OAL) of the loaded cartidge is 1.59 inches The case length is 1.29 inches. The .44 Magnum has a bullet diameter of 0.429 in. OAL is 1.61 in. Case length is 1.285 in. .45 ACP bullet diameter is 0.452 in. OAL is 1.275 in. Case length is 0.898 in. .45 Colt (aka Long Colt) bullet diameter is 0.454 in. OAL is 1.60 in. Case length is 1.285 in. .454 Casull bullet diameter is 0.454 in. OAL is 1.765 in. Case length is 1.381 in. .40S&W bullet diameter is 0.400 in. OAL is 1.135in. Case length is 0.850 in. .38 Special bullet diameter is .358 in. OAL is 1.550 in. Case length is 1.155 in. 9mm Parabellum (aka 9mm Luger/9mm NATO) bullet diameter is 0.356 in. OAL is 1.169 in. Case length is 0.754 in.
Case length is the same as .44 Magnum. I believe that bullet diameter is 12.7mm sharp (but could be wrong).
