    London Gazette 4 Apr 1946 page 1674 7892091 LCpl E. G. Leighton of Royal Armoured Corps for duty in North West Europe (including D Day) was Mentioned In Despatches. Page 1674 | Supplement 37521, 2 April 1946 | London Gazette | The Gazette
    This is the only military information I can find on a relative Edmund George Leighton b. 1910 Carlisle, Cumbria, England. Can anyone on this forum point me in the right direction to find more information.

    MiDs are famously hard to find info on.
    You might get lucky in a war diary or similar 'local' bit of paperwork, with a named mention. (We only know why my Grandad was MiD in Palestine because he kept the letter from his CO congratulating him. No other official source yet found.)

    The owner here (Otto), also owns WW2Talk.com, & encourages me to suggest it for things like this (Always a bit embarrassing. Many fine & knowledgeable people here, but WW2Talk is more likely to have suggestions for British & Commonwealth family researchers, despite quite a bit of member crossover.}

    Good luck, anyway! Wherever you search.

    You could apply for his service records - the link to the forms is - Request records of deceased service personnel

    Might also be worth joining the sister forum site WW2Talk which deals with the more British & Commonwealth side of WW2
