Canada's navy, air force returns to royal roots - 680News

The Conservatives have overturned the Liberal's policy, 43 yrs ago the Liberals dumped the "Royal" from our military.

The change that turned the Canadian military into the "Canadian Forces" (RCAF became Air Command, RCN became Maritime Command and the army became Land Force Command) was stupid 40 years ago, and its still stupid now. Its about time this has been overturned.

I had never realized that they weren't "Royal."

    Yep, a legacy of Trudeau & 1968.

Same Canadian Liberal Prime Minister who went to visit Castro in the 70's. (Probably just to piss the US off )

    Viva Cuba: Trudeau goes abroad

Being from Quebec he had no great love for Britain

Jeez really? And here I thought it was to liberate France & Western Europe.

We're not, its nothing more then symbolic nowadays, and it should have stayed that way. Our forces have more then earned a name for ourselves since back when we were militia defending against the Yankees, the liberals made a wise decision.

I don't really see the point to be honest and given the timing it's probably just a PR move. The "separate identity" camps are probably boiling.
