What was the average salary in Krakow 1939 (before the war) till 1942,especially for “Jewish” professions such tailors, advocates etc. How much an educated Jewish Sales man would get in a middle sized store?
There is some general background info in sections 30 and 31 of this page: http://bolekchrobry.tripod.com/polishinformationcenter19391945/id9.html and at: https://books.google.com/books?id=82ncGA4GuN4C&pg=PA71&lpg=PA71&dq=wages+poland+1939&source=bl&ots=woMfkEHBO4&sig=4lbfIURiV3OzAiKIYqJxaqYX__w&hl=en&sa=X&ei=pPA0VbPrDMiXgwTXg4HwAQ&ved=0CDMQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=wages%20poland%201939&f=false and https://books.google.com/books?id=as8aBgAAQBAJ&pg=PA32&lpg=PA32&dq=%22wages%22+poland+1939&source=bl&ots=bSGku2ZyDn&sig=p3Axyp_Wdjo5TH12bJxoZyHenlM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=vfA0VcuKG4SrgwSJiIHwBQ&ved=0CEIQ6AEwCA#v=onepage&q=%22wages%22%20poland%201939&f=false From what I gather their it's not a simple question if you want to get a good answer due to Poland still being significantly impacted by the Great Depression. Will keep an eye out for more info. You might want to take a look at Wages of Destruction it has pretty good information on Germany during that period with refences to some other countries (mostly France, Britain, and the US though). I've found good infor on this sort of question for the US in the census files perhaps the same exist for Poland but they may be available in Polish only.
