    The time has come.

I'm sure you've all heard me bandying about the migration from the current vB to IPB. We've been testing and testing the process on a live server ensuring everything goes smoothly. I even went to far as to bring in a specialist who worked for Invision to perform the more technical details. The troops are trained, the tanks are fueled, and the pilots are on active alert at their airfields.

It is very difficult to predict the exact hour when we will get rolling, but we are going to start sometime on Thursday, March 7th, and the entire process may take until early Saturday March 9th, all like are CST (GMT - 06:00). This will require us to copy the WW2F DB and begin the import to a new system. The entire site will be frozen, backed up, and imported into the new software.

What does this mean to you?
At some point between Thursday, March 7th, & until early Saturday March 9th, all like are CST (GMT - 06:00) the site will be locked and you will not be able to post.

    What should you do instead?
Please refrain from any wailing and gnashing of teeth. An astute colleague of mine mentioned to me the 7th is World book day. Go read one. :)
    Post Migration Problems
If anyone has any problems accessing the site after the migration, please email me at this address [IMG] and I'll sort it out.
    Twitter
WW2F is not, and never will be on facebook, and I'm not really a social media sort, but I'm going to start using my twitter account to deliver general updates. This seems like a good time to start using as it will be the only open channel to get to me during the downtime. https://twitter.com/OttoBomb

Thanks all for your support, I'll see you on the other side.

"You will enter the server and, in conjunction with the forces of Chaos, undertake transfer operations aimed a the heart of IVB, and the construction of a new board." (Apologies to the JCS.)

Is it too late to post complaints about the current software?

Until you posted my post showed as the last post, but it also showed unread posts in this thread. "Fool once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on the beer."

I can't wait! It's almost 11:00 PM EST and the site is better than it was earlier. Good show, Otto.

Nice Lou! Since you are a mod you posted in advance of the general membership. I'm still tidying up, but we should be stood up within by early morning on Friday, March 8th.

Well I can get in, the pond has not dampened the coax, and the submarine cable seems to be working. The sat from Oakhanger must be operational and the skynet5 comms links are up. CAT 3 cabling seems to be redundant, and even without all the waffling...Urqh is still here...Shame on all you yankies who thought the upgrade would at last release you from the wanderings of a military sheep hearder. I payed extra to get a link...But why am I the only one paying..and its pay as you go...costing me a fortune in beer chits.

Thanks everyone. The hardest part is over, but there is still a lot to be done. The site doesn't look too much different than before as we still have the stock skin. I threw up a quick logo to identify the site, but I'm sure the colors are off. A new skin is in the works but not a priorit just yet We have a lot of your member access permission to set still, and most of our best features are still turned off. What's great is that the most concerning part of the move, pulling all the data into the new site, was accomplished successfully. Now it's a matter double checking that all the moving pieces still fit together as they should. I appreciate your patience.

Ahhh, That's better. I tried a few times yesterday and hit the "In Process" page, it feels good to be back on. It will take time to get use to new look but I like it also. Especially then you open a thread. Much easier to read. Time to go explore, Thank Otto !
