sherman recovery?

    On the recovery, version, what is the purpose of the large sheave on the front sprocket position?
    I assume that it is to be used in conjunction with the winch, but does any one know how exactly??

    It was used to rise the A lifting post from the road position (down and to the rear) to the 'in use' position (ie upright)

    thanks sherm, I also posted the same question on another forum, and was pointed to pictures on webshots from the tech manual for these machines, very informative. :D
