Winning widespread recognition of his administrative work as Postmaster-General (1931-35) and Minister of Health (1935-38) Sir Kingsley Wood was promoted to be Secretary of State for Air in May. 1938. The development of Air Arm after this date and its direction in warfare tasks that he had shouldered were with marked success.
