Not thet we decided to become a naval power, but the sub will become part of naval museum Sergey Mashera (Sergej Mašera) in Piran. Slovenia will start negotiations (let's hope) with republic of Crna Gora (Montenegro) for one of their subs. Subs were part of Yugoslav fleet before break-up of Yugoslavia and now ended as part of Montenegro fleet. Most components of these subs were built in Slovenia (hulls by ironworks Ravne and Štore, anti-sonar coatings by Color -Medvode, electronic's by Iskra -Kranj). During their operational life in JRM 1/3 of the crews were Slovenes. Hopefully they will be succesfull. According to the article sub they are interested in is either Heroj (Hero) or Sava class. Soča class wouldn't be good as it is a small sub and not usefull for tourist viewings (much to cramped). According to the same article Austria was also interested for one of the boats for their museum in Vienna, but backed out becouse of transport costs ( subs should be cut apart for transport and then welded back together in museum)
Sounds interesting. This place is (was) just a few miles from where I live - it has closed through lack of funding which is a great shame as it was the largest collection of preserved warships in Europe. It's pretty disgusting that our govenment didn't put up the money to keep it going as it was a real national treasure. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warship_Preservation_Trust http://www.24hourmuseum.org.uk/nwh_gfx_en/ART33950.html
