this is the 8X57R STEYR bullet casing ,used in the M95 straight pull mannlicher carbine ,this ammo is the only one I ever encounterd bearing a third reich mark on its casing, the question is if there is any other ammo used in small arms that had those kind of marks on its casing? P.
source: "thehighroad.us" WWII vintage German ammo has no "Nazi" markings. The normal headstamp shows the maker of the case, the type of case and the month and day the case was made....it was made for the steyr, the ammo was made in austria..and possibly unique to that weapon/calibre..surplus ammo..and cheap to buy in the U.S... 1940 the austrians adpoted the 8mm... austrian eagle.
Thanks Ray,It was cheap ammo I payed 2,50€ for 1 box containing 2 clips had 15 boxes and fired them all,This ammo is something else every time I fired the gun it was like a bomb exploded at the end of the muzle Cheers P
it was a one time offer in a gun store they had the opportunity to buy a cheap lot of some 200 boxes and they where sold out in just two days, too bad I did not keep a box the 8X57R was free for sale untill a few years ago, strange but the ammo was regarded as ammo for big game hunting and price for 20 bullets was 50€ , thanks for the site on the ammo P.
