Hello everyone, while it may seem strange sometimes facts are stranger than fiction. In 1945 at the end of WWII, Nuremberg was chosen as the city where the now famous Nuremberg Trials were held. Since many US Soldiers were being sent home because of the end of the conflict it became clear that soldiers were needed new responsibilities such as the security for the Nuremberg Trial. So surviving members of the Waffen SS Latvian and Croatian Legions were recruited as guards that would fill positions at the location of the Nuremberg Trial. Here is an interesting video that goes into more detail.
