My wife recently found a stash of papers that belonged to her great grandfather. I am not a WWII buff but we have found looking through them fascinating; everything from certificates to notepads containing dirty jokes and poetry. He appears to have been a member of Battery "B" of the 103rd Field Artillery, and I was hoping to find more information about this unit and where he might have fought. Any help you could provide would be very welcome! Regards, Will B.
The 103rd FA was part of the 43rd Infantry Division. There is a thread or two on the 43rd ID here or you can google the 43rd and see where the 103rd was also. http://ww2f.com/military-service-record-genealogical-research/39191-43rd-infantry-division.html http://ww2f.com/land-warfare-pacifi...infantry-division-c-company-118th-med-bn.html
I've posted the book written by the WW2 commander of the 43rd Division Artillery, and if you download it you'll find out plenty about the 103rd's experiences during the war. There's also a name index you can search to see if your wife's great-grandfather is mentioned. http://www.ww2f.com/land-warfare-pacific/38387-history-43rd-division-artillery-1941-1945-a.html
