Which of the Aegean Islands were invaded by the British only to have their beach head thrown back into the sea by SS and Wehrmacht troops?

In fall 1943 Castelrosso, Simi, Lero, Samo, Coo....but "invaded by the British only to have their beach head thrown back into the sea by SS and Wehrmacht troops" is not exactly a good description. Commonly Brit/italian played as defenders

Hi Lupo.If memory serves, which is getting frequently spotty, these days, the British were trying to invade a number of the offshore Greek islands. In this case, elite, German units had replaced the Italian garrison troops and after several days of fighting with the invading British troops, they surrendered to the Germans, enmass.
