Plastic pistols are an abomination unto the Lord, eschew them and return to the graces of God's own 1911.

    Amen.

You, Sir, are a prophet. May you find honor.

BLASPHEMER! I am merely the Prophet Browning's humble messenger. Eschew your plastic guns, for they are an abomination unto the Lord.

I respectfully disagree, Revered Sir. A man such as you who spreads the truth so eloquently is indeed a prophet and worthy of an honored seat in the presence of Great Browning.

If it shoots where I point it I'm good with it. If it doesn't need a pintle it's a toy anyway. :p

Put 96 lbs. of supersonic rounds a minute in the air and then get back to me.

    That, Sir, is overkill.

If it doesn't have a Browning tilting barrel system, it is of Satan.

A tilting barrel? Are you trying to shoot the ground or the air?

The only true Gospel was written by Samuel Colt...The rest are paltry televangelists compared to him.

And that's a single barrel. Twin mounts are the boss.

Samuel Colt was Old Testament. He is to be revered, but the enlightened follow John Moses Browning.

Somewhere I saw a picture of a Ma Deuce on a mount that let it get about 35 degrees up angle. That's optimal for "beating the ground" four miles away. This one was probably in AAA mode, however. The troops were on the side of the road, doing ditch duty.

Ah yes, John Moses Browning was indeed a giant, but other giants roamed the land too: James Paris Lee, Ferdinand Ritter v. Mannlicher, John Garand, Pedersen, Peter Paul Mauser, just to name a few.

Somebody came up with a double barreled 45 1911 by the way. I've seen the video.

I first read the 1911 when I was, lo, but in the fifth year of elementary school, through the intercession of some kindly CPOs who came by the quarters one evening and explained to Himself that I was stopping and watching them shoot everyday on the way home from school and that they would be willing to take on my instruction. Himself replied that he learned the truth and the way of the 1911 much the same way from sergeants in the 13th Infantry when his HIMSELF was in command at Fort Strong in Boston Harbor. Thus I was taken into the 1911 fold and became a true believer. Alas, later, as they came upon the popular scene, I faltered and was led astray by the 9mm blasphemers and merrily savored their wares. But 1911 is also forgiving and I returned to the fold, yea, and even instructed one of my princesses who with a 1911 can put 7 in a head-sized target at 30 feet with ease. She once went to the range with a law enforcement friend who handed her one of the evil 9s and proceeded to offer instruction. She listened patiently and attentively and then she cleaned the targets and asked if he had any real pistols.

In real terms, nearly all modern combat pistols are Brownings. They all use his tilting barrel system. Even the evil nines are Browning designs, since he created the double stack mag for the Grand Puissance (High Power, Hi-Power, GP35) that led the way for the rest of them. Even... and I cringe to say it... he designed the striker firing system that Glock purloined for his plastic apostate pistols. The original GP35 design had the same "half cock" striker that Glock used. The French said they wanted a hammer (and good for them!), so Dieudonné Saive of FN made that change after the master died.

Nearly all, but not all. I have both a Remington 51 and its current variation, the Remington R51. It uses a "hesitation lock" system and the barrel doesn't move within the frame.
