The Kingdom of Jerusalem faces perilous times, defending the Holy City from the Muslim hordes. The Principality of Antioch, to the North, is Jerusalem's only Catholic Ally in the region while to the South West the most hated of enemies lies in wait: Egypt.

King Baldwin and his two brothers - Prince Guy and Raymond - lead the Kingdom of Jerusalem into battle. The cities that the Kingdom of Jerusalem controls are the following:

    Tripoli

    Acre

    Ascalon

Prince Guy and 3x Knights of Tripoli are ordered to move from Acre to Ascalon. The Kingdoms Fleet set sails and blockades the Egyptian Port of Dumyat. Trade Rights with the Papal States are also secured immediately.

Build orders are also issued to the following cities:
    Acre - Mines
    Ascalon - Mines
    Tripoli - Merchants Wharf

Turn 2 sees no new developments. The Council of Nobles requests that Damascus be taken, but the Principality of Antioch has already laid Siege to the City of Damascus, making this task impossible. However, in Jerusalem, the recruitment of the following began: 1 x Templar Sergeants, 1 x Spy, 1 x Assassin, 1 x Pisan and Genoese Sailors.

Turn 3 also saw no new developments. Map Information was shared with Antioch and Kerak began construction on a Church.

Turn 4 got a little more lively when a Kingdom Assassin killed an Egyptian Captain. Construction Orders issued for the turn:
    Jerusalem - Warehouse
    Tripoli - Faiground
Ascalon - Watchtower constructed in the Desert.

Turn 5 saw the Princess marry Morris Estington. The Pope also requested that a Priest be recruited in Kerak. Estington left shortly afterwards with 3 x Tripoli Squires and the Genoese Sailors, heading for Kerak.

The next few turns saw little action. Construction as follows:
    Ascalon - Drill Square
    Acre - Practice Range
    Kerak - Garrison Quarters + 2 x Tripoli Squires
    Tripoli - Shipwright

Trade Rights with the Turks, located north of Antioch, were also secured.

Turn 11 finally sees some action as General Estington lays siege to Ayla, to the deep south of Kerak. Speaking of Kerak, 1 x Templar Sergeants, 1 x Tripoli Squires, and 1 x Sodeer Archers began recruitment.
    Jerusalem - Crop Rotation
    Acre - Communal Farming

This brings us to Turn 12, and battle! However, before the Battle started, the Theologians Guild set up its base in Tripoli.

    The Battle of Ayla

A preliminary viewing of the assembled forces gives us a slight edge:

    Kingdom forces assemble:

    Our foe!

    Fighting inside the walls:

    Templars to the Front!

    Our General is Slain!

    Victory for Jerusalem!

Ayla, having been added to the mighty Kingdom of Jerusalem, is the final hinge in closing the Holy Land to the Muslim Hordes. It effectively sets up a barrier of cities stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea. It brings the Kingdom one step close to final victory.

The Summer of 1186 was peaceful, with Ascalon recruiting Dismounted Knights of Jerusalem and a Ballista. It was clear that war will be coming, so better to prepare for it today then tomorrow. The Winter of 1186 would be a far different story.

Ayla begins land clearance, but news quickly spreads throughout the Holy Lands the Muslim Egyptians have laid seige to Ascalon. Messengers are sent to Ascalon. None return. Ascalon is under seige!

A mighty Muslim Army attacks the Defenders of Ascalon with a 700 man advantage. Will it be enough?

    Defenders of Ascalon, unite!

    The Muslim Horde approaches!

Hold the line! Show no Mercy!

The General commands by Divine Right.

    Charge them down!

    Archers prove their worth:

    VICTORY! VICTORY! VICTORY!

A Heroic Victory! Less then 200 losses, while the Muslims paid dearly, with barely 200 soldiers escaping the field of battle! The Muslims will think twice about attacking the Kingdom of Jerusalem again!

The Summer of 1187 was one to celebrate the victory at Ascalon. Tripoli began production on a Brothel, while Ascalon recruited more Dismounted Knights and replenished its few losses. Jerusalem recruited 4x Templars and General Josias was adopted into the Royal Family.

Josia immediately began to move southwards, with a small army, in preparition of further expansion and escalted war.

Trade rights with Byzantine were secured as our Diplomat continued to travel the lands, while Acre began construction on Knights Stable.

Over the following few turns, Kerak began construction on a Practice Range and Ayla also began work on a Brothel. Jersualem began a Coaching House, Ascalon a Blacksmith.

Josias also arrived in Ayla with 3x Squires of Tripoli, 2x Knights of Jerusalem, and 1 x Templars. Ascalon also began recruitment on 2x Dismounted Knights of Jerusalem and Tripoli began construction on an Inn.

In the winter of 1189, Acre begins construction on a Blacksmith.
