    According to most sources, 35 people died due to the bomb, 32 Germans and two civilians, one of them a child, immediately and one more German later.
    As a reprisal the Germans Killed 335 prisoners though it's been possible to identify only 322 of the bodies. After the war the German commander, Herbert Kappler, was condemned because he "exceeded" his orders that were issued before the last German death and called for 320 executions.
    The episode is still a matter of great controversy in Italy as both sides of the political fence dig it up from time to time .....
