If you are listening to the most famous recordings, Walk, Don't Run should be The Ventures, Mahatten Skyline could be by A-ha (from the album that had Take on Me) and Alley Oop is probably The Argyles version.
Hi DG, thanks for the info. I had forgotten about The Ventures and it was their version. I always loved the Guitar and Drums in that song. Also, thanks for the name of the group that did Manhatten Skyline. I had never known who they were. As for Alley Oop, I think it was the original version. It's been probably 30 years since I last heard it. I will be sending you my rep points for the hep on this music. Many thanks--Carl.
ah the Ventures.........good memories kickin back with some good hot Cinnamon Tea listening quitely to some Classical musik from KING FM
Hi E, yup. I 've been listening to various great songs played on several of the 50 musick channels that my Sis and Bro-in-Law get on their TV. Anything from Classic Country to Golden Oldies of anykind to Big Band to German Bier Songs and such. The list im writing down of songs I don't have on CD-is a long one. Guess i'll have to quit buying DvDs for awhile, and start getting more Musick (music misspelled on purpose ;-)
At the moment, I am listening to John Adams' compositions Light Over Water Parts I, II and II. I am still trying to decide whether I like it. I think I liked it 20 years ago but now I am not so sure. Reminds a bit too much of Tangerine Dream meets Phillip Glass. I think I may need to listen a couple of times to get the patterns in my head. It may also be that I should not be typing and reading while I listen!
I decided to give up on John Adams (the composer). Now I am on to the Original MGM soundtrack to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Howard Keel and Jane Powell -- it does not get better than that!
Started listening to good "old" Prince and his production in the 80´s after " When doves cry". Great stuff. Even incredible b-sides to the singles...
