    Tobruk,the great siege reassesed.

Has anyone read this great book by Frank Harrison.

I rate it as the best book on WWII I have ever read.

Obviously I am slightly biased, as the Western desert is my special area of interest.

I would be keen to hear from anyone else who has read it.

Well, here's one for you on how a slang term became a houshold term. For those that experience the great outdoors anyways.

The Germans, during the WW II desert campaign, used a specially designed water container, what the Commonwealth troops dubbed the "Gerry Can". Everyone, when I was groing up in the interior of British Columbia (1973-1985 during my youth), knew that a Gerry can meant gasoline can for the truck. We painted the Gerry Water Can blue to signify drinking water; this was the standard that event the children knew.
