I am at a dead end trying to track the bios of two battalion commanders in the 90th Infantry Division. The 3d Battalion, 359th Infantry landed on D-Day with LTC James E Casey commanding. At some point he was wounded and replaced by LTC John F "Foxhole" Smith, but I have been unable to find any more details in my usual sources. LTC Smith originally on D-Day was on the Regimental staff, probably as S-3, but that is about all I have found. They were both OR officers on active duty commissioned in the AUS, so the Army Register is no help. Any ideas?
