    Kerem do you find that strange since Britain had a different stance in WW 1 and supported the other side obviously ?

    Yes, it is weird that in less than 20 years relations between two countries changed in the opposite directions. I think it is the result of the republican revolution, because in the WWI the ottoman empire was ruled by men who lacked common sense and had a senseless German affectation. When the republic was decelerated, common sense came back to diplomacy, and the leaders were able to keep good relations with both sides of the conflict.

    Seems Turkey were playing both sides in the 30's in an attempt to build up their armed forces, this on Afghanistan has a mention of them cooperating with Germany still:
    Armed Forces of WWII (South-Central Asia).
    And this from the same site, more specifically on Turkey, tells of Arms shipments from Britain, Germany & the US, including 2 submarines each from Germany and the UK:
    The Armed Forces of WWII ( Near East ).
