ugh...sometimes i have regrets. id say this post was a reaction to other threads ( probably the Beirut thread) where member was always upvoting (percieved) negative comments towards myself ( and others he disagrees with ) in many other threads. i could not see full conversation due to being blocked (?) it seemed (to me) member has often advocated blocking others who may not hold the same viewpoint. members first interaction with me was offensive on his part. i've taken some time to reflect. i am passionate, but make weak arguments. pardon me.
I found this last night...Its an insight into Australia in the 70s and insight into VFL (Victorian Football League) as it was called back then. I remember jumping the fence at KGV (King George the fifth) oval in Hobart...i'm sure my brother and I would talk like this...but with a few more Fs and Cs put in...I was young, but boy could I swear! Well its the eve before Grand Final 2021... This year will see the Melbourne Demons go up against the Western Bulldogs. The Dees (as Melbourne is also known) haven't won a Grand final since 1964...57 years! But have dominated this year and will go into tomorrows final as favourites. The Dogs - who are known as a scrappy tough team - have had a great year also and will be no easy beats...should be a great, hard game. To get you in the mood i will add these little vids. Starting with the top 50 marks - always an argument there...Now, to clear up confusion, a mark is simply a catch. To make it a mark the ball musn't hit the ground or be touched by another player. When you take a mark, you can simply play on or you can go back and take an unimpeded kick, including at the goals if the player is close enough. Top 50 goals...To score a goal the ball must be kicked off the foot and pass through the two middle sticks without anyone touching the ball (if someone touches it the score is a single point). A goal is worth 6 points.
Well big weekend for footy...Buddy Franklin made history on the weekend by kicking his 1000th goal...only the sixth player to ever do so. I remember "Plugger" Tony Lockett kicking his 1000th years ago... It was lucky that he made the goal as more than 200 people had already streamed onto the field before the ball had gone through...Security didn't even bother...Some of his players tried to protect him, but they gave up pretty quick and ran to the stands for safety...At one point there were more people on the field than in the stands... Buddy and his wife...
Watched this today...Was really fun to watch! The US had the height...PNG the mongrel... This was the 2017 International cup...The US gersey is awesome IMO...KAI Finland is cool as also... This was a bruising encounter...PNG are always a very physical team regardless of the sport...The US seems to give as good as it gets.
