My History professor (University of Vienna) told me way back that the
Polish underground had stolen pieces of the V2 and put them on British
bombers that were doing shuffle missions to the USSR. Has anyone else
    ever heard of this?

by the time the V2 was in use against Britain in 1944, the alliance between Britain and russia was already beginning to chill, and it was becoming evident to many in Britain that this was going to be a wartime alliance, only. So my guess is that giving the Russkis V2 parts was the last thing the British were going to do. But your professor could be right.

But even so, by 1945 the russians overran Peenemunde and other places where V2 parts were made, and captured alot of German scientists who had worked on the programme. So even without any parts from the British, the Russians still had the same head start we did on building more advanced rockets.
