I've read conflicting information regarding the leading group of the XXX Corps during operation Market Garden in 1944. Some sources claim the Guards Armoured was the vanguard group that led the charge up hell's highway towards Arnhem while other sources state it was the Irish Guard. Which is correct?

The Irish Guards 'battle group' (2nd Armoured Battalion & 3rd Battalion) was part of the Guards Armoured Division.
