People are moved to tears when they see these hanging banners, each featuring an individual veteran's face. The program has been a great success at various communities in Canada, including my own town of Invermere, British Columbia. Take a look at my Wartime Wednesdays blog to see some photographs. www.elinorflorence.com/blog/veteran-banners
That's fantastic! I would love to see things like this in the states, our veterans deserve more recognition like this.
Hi, read my blog post for a complete description of the banners. We got a smoking deal from the printer, and charged the families $100 per veteran (good for five years).
It's not difficult -- just needs someone to drive the project. That's why I included a complete How-To description in my blog.
Fantastic. There are similar programs here, at least in California. They mostly are for current vets, though. My brother's town of Upland, CA is one of those places. The nearby town of Fontana has a similar program. I'm sure there are others, but your idea of honoring WW2 vets is a great one.
