I know that as PoW camps were liberated the Americans were shocked to learn how the Germans starved the American prisoners and that here in the US rations were reduced for a while for the incarcerated German PoWs.

The Red Menace caused the abandonment of the Morganthau Plan and the implementation of the Marshall Plan.
