Iris Porter of Calgary, aged 97, shown here on the right, served in the air force for five years, two of them on the burning sands of Egypt. She did payroll for all the RAF in the Middle East, and was involved with the repatriation of Allied prisoners from Japanese prison camps. What a great story. The pictures are priceless. It's hard to imagine what would encourage a young girl to serve in Egypt then emigrate to Canada. Not only does she prove her bravery, but she seemed to enjoy her "adventure.
