After learning of the 10 SS men recently convicted of war crimes in Italy,I was wondering if there is a list somewhere of the most wanted.Who they are and what they are accused of.

I had a topic on that , but nothing was said regarding war criminals , it just turned into a conversation that was almost unrelated to the topic

Che, just because I don't personally trust Wikipedia, here's an excellent site on Oradour, with some information from the German perspective as well. It makes for some interesting reading. At least the bits I've read so far.

I'll say after WW2 almost every country in the world was a safe heaven for nazi war criminals as long as they were usefull....

Every allied country, especially the US, France, USSR and Britain actively tried to recruit every german scientific they could find and of course did not care about their past....
The most prominent one could be Werner von Braun, the chief of the US space programm in the 50's and 60's.
He developed the V2 in WW2.
On various occasions he visited factories where jews and other prisoners from concentration camps were doing forced labour and died by thousands....
There are documents where he urges SS responsibles(he was member of the SS himself)to affect more detainees to his factories.

There was one German who had killed many Canadian POWs, and the Canadians wanted to try him. So they did and his punishment was 20 years in prison as Canada does not beleive in capitol punishment.

CSP-You are right, South America would also be a great place to find nazi war criminals.

Castelot-I was not reffering to German Scientists, although you are correct the big shot scientists were war criminals. What I was talking about was senior officers and nazi officials who had no scientific expertise that fled to the Arab World accepting commissions to be high ranking officers in Arab Forces. There wasn't even a pretence to hiding it.
