Howdy all, hoping for your suggestions. I'd like to read more about the airborne ops just prior to d-day landing and also the Battle of the Bulge. Was hoping to know what any of you might recommend for a good read. Thanks!
A good starting point for you may be the following threads : - http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-books-publications/50315-us-airborne-normandy.html http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-books-publications/12971-battle-ardenne-titles-please.html There are a few other headings to be found in the Forum's 'books' section as well......

Just finished "Islands of the Damned", R.V. Burgin's account of his experiences which was featured in the HBO mini-series "The Pacific". Also finished "Untold Valor" by Rob Morris which is subtitled "Forgotten Stories Of American Bomber Crews In World War II". Both are recommended reads. buk2112
I will confess that I started rereading the "Potter" series, one chapter a night before bed, in anticipation of the final movie this summer. Considering how many chapters that is I may have started too late!
I dont usually do fiction but ..total war 2006 by ex RAF fighter jockey Simon Pearson..my god..hes sort of predicted the arab revolts..coming together as an arab eu sort of..mix in ..secret spec forces war in baltics..russian alliance if temp with arab alliance and you get korean war..riga airport defence by nato..german armor into ukraine and belorus..air fighter war over europe..raf usaf air tanker fleet terrorist disaster..israel flung back by arab alliance san diego..pearl harbor mark two..and an incredible catastropic ending for someone..ddefinately an update to shan hacket of arnhem fames two volume now dated world war 3..and the french..well whod have thought...no the mans telling of a future arab revolution is worth it as it seems current although written in 2001
...and I have to confess that after my earlier marathon Bulge-fest, I've given WWII a little rest while I've been reading Tom Rubython's 'The Life Of Senna'......
I'm midway through Beevor's D-Day. A good read, so far. I have Eastern Inferno in the queue to read next. Since the author is a member here, and Jeff wrote the Forward, I'm anxious to get to it. I also picked up, from the bargain bin, a large picture and specs book called Classic Military Aircraft; The World's Fighting Aircraft, 1914-1945. It will be a benefit to me, who has little technical knowledge of aircraft.
Just finished Beevor´s Leningrad. I seem to leave some last 20 pages of my books unread for a while...Great book. I´d hope for more maps as at times it´s pretty hard to follow the battles even though eastern front is familiar to me from several books/maps.
Just Finished Word Myths-Debunking Linguistic Urban Legends, interesting the true origin of some of our common slang words and phrases. Jazz was originaly a sports term coined on the west coast about baseball.
