I tend to put the term "Wehrboo" into that same category as the term "Hitler" with respect to Godwin's law. :godwin:

That said, the very last thing people visit YouTube for is the strife-ridden comment section, especially on history videos. I can't say that a YouTube video that simply lists YouTube comments is going to get me to watch. :D

And I'd like to point out that Godwin's "law" isn't a law, just a bald assertion.

    Well I learnt something today.
I have never heard the term Wehrboo , ever.
I had to look it up.
    Thanks for furthering my education.

I wasn't familiar with the term either. Not sure it has enough import to thank someone for bringing it to my attention though.

I don't know it could be a valuable term next time a ShooterIke or someone of his ilk starts posting German fanboy wet dream material on the forums, then attacking anyone that presents documentation and facts that contradict the fantasy. We can now issue a Wehraboo alert!

Charming & depressing in equal measure.

I do sometimes read comments on Youtube, just to remind myself there's a reason MKenny & others continue their righteous crusade against retardism, and are often so irritable. :)

It is indeed a law Sir. One similar to the Law of Thermodynamics, and is probably more concrete than most Tax laws.

Godwin's law: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving nazis or Hitler approaches 1".

It used to happen here an awful lot in the early 2000s. It happens incredibly fast these days when anyone discusses Brexit or Trump/Hillary.

    Live TV news item yesterday.
A Conservative MP briefly stopped a live BBC News interview in Westminster as protesters chanted: "Soubry is a Nazi."

    That's not a law, it's a bald assertion.

Of course, but "Godwin's Assertion" just doesn't have the same gravitas. ;)

Not an assertion, but an observation...Much like Moore's Law.

A bald assertion is one that is unsupported. Observations are in the anecdotal range, IMHO.

Get enough observations and you have statistics. That said I think the longest thread I ever participated in lacked the comparison to Nazis or Hitler. It was the BoB thread over on the axis history forum morphed into a significant Sea Lion discussion as well. The addendum might be if the thread contains political and/or emotional issues it's more likely to see such comparisons. It is an indicator that the person making such comparisons has run out of fact and logic or into someone who is impervious to the same.
