From the series "Nazi Hunters" parts 1 operation Eichmann, Pt 3 on Klaus Barbie, and pt 5 on Mengele. Stalingrad document from 2003 Stalingrad (2003)
Just finished watching "Raid On Rommel". Sure, it has almost no historically-correct content, but its a nice WWII-themed adventure movie. I have no idea if anyone likes it here, but I think its entertaining. Yesterday I finished watching "Baa Baa Black Sheep" -- I got the last season off of eBay.
Slaughterhouse-Five (1972) - IMDb Wow! Weird movie but I liked it... Goes to the same category as "Brazil"
I live so far from anywhere that if we want to see a movie not on TV, we have to do Netflix. I just received Saints and Soldiers. Anyone seen it? Don't give it away, but is it a good one? I plan to watch it tomorrow.
Its pretty good. Not the worst WW2 movie I've seen. If they have "When Trumpets Fade", definitely get that one too. Watched episode 1 of the HBO series "Game of Thrones" last night. This is gonna be awesome! Pretty close to the books, too, so far.
Game of Thrones is pretty good. Have seen a few episodes. Waiting for Boardwalk Empire season 2. Also for the second time: Homicide Life on the Streets, Seasons 1-6. Just finished The Lost Evidence: Monte Cassino - pretty good.
Kurt Vonnegut is eclectic, eccentric but very good. He passed a few years ago, 4-11-2007. He should be remembered as an American literary master. Wikipedia Wikipedia Source: VONNEGUT•COM -- The Official Website of Kurt Vonnegut Boldface mine. Apropo, don't you think? View attachment 13945
Just finished watching Passchendaele (2008) - IMDb :S! ...musta got something in my eye...its watering...a lot...
Just finished watching The Winter War (1989) - IMDb. Had to spread it out over several days, dang thing is 3 hours long (if you watch the original subtitled version). But good. Well worth it.
Just finished CODE NAME: EMERALD, I couldn't believe I had never seen it, I thought I'd seen them all. Not a bad movie, good cast.
For our British members...Thursday 20th October. Yesterday digital channel....Find My History. Normal folk, not celebs...having their relatives traced sort of thing. Just saw a clip and this episode seems to be about the Leigh on Sea cockle boat guys who sailed out to Dunkirk to rescue an army. One boat striking a mine. Lest we Forget.
For my money it does........ Years ago I used to get choked up when Ilsa leaves Rick, now the part that chokes me up every time is when they are singing the national anthems. It is my favorite movie.
I've been spending time copying movies I have on tape to disc. Yesterday it was "The Fighting Lady," narrated by Robert Taylor. Loved the remark about "The little monkeys are some fancy fliers." Just now, I copied over "Fireball Forward," with Ben Gazzara, Ricardo Montalban, and Eddie Albert. Also L.Q. Jones. This latter one is one of those little gems that you find sometimes. I also copied my old recording of "Korea, the forgotten war." It's narrated by Robert Stack and had lots of footage from that fight, especially the gun camera shots from strafing jets.
I watched "Saving Private Ryan" again last night. I always did like it regardless of how a lot of people didn't care for it.
With Jeff Goldblum in main role I quite enjoyed this. Willem Dafoe was not quite the nazi you´d expect and also quite a distant figure... I guess he was doing something else at the same time. Adam Resurrected (2008) - IMDb
This may not, strictly speaking, be a WWII flick, but I just finished with "Tank", with James Garner. Since it's a WWII Sherman, I think it kind of sort of fits. I was 13 when this came out, and my dad and I went to see it. Great action, and great fun to hear Mama Partridge call the governor of Tennessee a dirty name.
