What if the Alpine Redoubt was reality?

    Bah! The only different outcome from this redoubt is a different coloured post-war Europe!

    I have to agree with this one. The only thing I can add is that an establishment of such a thing would lengthen the fighting by at most several months.

    Alpine Redoubt would be pretty mountainous area, and the only natural resource would be snow... So it's difficult to see any long-term (military) production taking place up there, and thus any real large-scale resistance would have been nearly impossible.

    And it wouldn't be very dramatic for Hitler to commit suicide in some luxury holiday resort ;-)

    Why not to try "Northern Redoubt" -- building defence lines around those seaports which mass-produced the new very efficient u-boats -- and then make one last foolhardy assault to the pages of history (... and subsequent u-boat escape trip to south America) ;-D
