"Das Boot" is my favorite because the U-boat commander is a genius and he saves his ship only for it to die in a bombing raid.

best years of our lives, spr, shindlers list, slaughterhouse five, from here to eternity, enemy at the gate, tora tora tora, das boot,12 oclock high, bob,mr roberts ,the young lions, thin red line, murphys war, macaurther,in harms way, patton, the english patient,to hell and back . most war movies have scenes of action that are over done.i recently read ;the ghost soldiers bout the us rangers springin the p.o.w.s in philipenes....quick in ,shot a couple jap sentries ..quick out ...success! then ,i see the movie, just out on cd...jesus ,u woulda thought it was the battle of stalingrad....but then ,i realized ,they got to sell tickets to lottsa 13 year olds..so they create a lotta action ,that never happined...if they made it historicaly correct ,it wouldnt sell enuff popcorn, also movie viewers are a lot hader to please.hero cant just shoot the bad guy,,he has to do it with two pistoles while flyin thru the air upside down and on fire......

    my favorites in order

    1) Band of Brothers
    2) enemy at the gates
    3) the blue max
    4) tmavomodry svet
    5) all quiet on the western front

Full Metal Jacket and Beast of War are my other non-ww2 favorites

Saving Private Ryan had such horrible characters i cheered every time one of them got picked off by the germans. in fact my favorite part was when the german stabbed the guy with the browning in the throat...

Pearl harbor was also shlock, but at least the characters were nice guys so i actually enjoyed it

How can you like these movies? They are travesties, both from a historical perspective and through the lame entwining of lovestories.
